Organizers hard at work

We have some sad news for you. It has become clear to us that we will be unable to hold a conference this year. Due to a scheduling mix-up with the venue, we will not be able to have the conference on the scheduled weekend of November 11th to 13th of 2016. In addition to this, some other challenges have made it clear that the planning of the conference needs additional time to work.

This incarnation of Transcending Boundaries Conference has been around since 2009. Often when communities and organizations are six or seven years old, they find that in order to keep aligned with mission and values, grow capacity, and sustain its vibrancy, a period of new visioning and structuring is necessary.

After months of implementing partial changes while we also worked on creating a conference for this year, we have decided that it would be far more productive for us to postpone the conference. We understand that this is likely to be intensely disappointing for you, and we deeply apologize for that. However, we hope that you will stick with us as we do this work so that we can give the Conference great new energy and keep doing great things. We are committed to bringing you a conference in 2017, and we'll update you when we have a better idea of when that will be. We will continue to post and interact with you via our official Facebook page and the Facebook group, as well as your individual messages to us. We appreciate you, our wonderful community of communities, and we are doing this so that we can build the best possible experience for you. Thank you everyone who attended our February Organizer's Meeting.  We made some great headway on potential locations for the 2016 conference and who we'd love to see as the keynote speaker!

We will be discussing the results of our venue tours, keynote poll and more plans for Noho Pride.  We need your help to make this year great!

We will also be holding a "workday" Sunday, March 20th.  Workdays are when we get together as departments, in person or online, and do conference work together.  These are fun, low-key gatherings and a great way to get involved with less commitment.  Department heads will be posting their needs on the Facebook Event.

We are currently soliciting applications for the two 2016 Conference Chairpersons. The role of Con-Chair includes leading regular organizer meetings, setting schedules and due dates for work associated with the conference and being responsible for the major milestones of the conference planning process are met.  Traditionally the Con-Chairs also speak at the keynote luncheon.  Con-Chairs report to the Transcending Boundaries, Inc. Board of Directors.

There are no prerequisites for the role of Con-Chair, and we welcome all applications.  Applications are due by February 15th, 2016.  A decision will be made by March 1st.
